Thanks! You have surely heard me talk about it because it's something I almost never shut up about : ) So many women have their doctors dismiss them on this.
This is a very interesting topic and I hope we continue to research it. I don't think we are there yet with the strength of the evidence and existing studies but directionally it seems like there is something there. I credit birth control pill with improving the quality of my life but I would never give it to my daughter (if I had one). I think as we deepen our knowledge about menopause, hormones etc. we will learn more about the side effects of the pill.
I love your writing and insight! I worked on a study a few years ago looking at how hormonal birth control can impact reward processing and sexual desire, and I sometimes felt some pushback - like even bringing it up made people think you were trying to take away access or dismiss how much birth control has done for women, but it’s really just about being informed. For a lot of people, the benefits still outweigh any negatives, and that’s part of the choice! Like you said, relationships have always been a little scary, this is just one more potential factor
Excellent stuff Sarah. I’m confident I’ve heard you talk about this in regard to your current book, which I bought 2 days ago. Sorry I’m late to the game.
But this subject is huge for me when I have couples in the counseling room. I really look forward to your new book. Another subject that will be applicable in the counseling room. I’ve already been able to apply this matter of preference on and off the pill to clients. Great work.

Agreed on all fronts. <3 Thank you for reading.

Exactly. I couldn't have said it better myself.
